ARTICLE: The Simplicity of Natural Healing Part II
by Fawn Christopher

This summer our daughter, Ginger, spent 3 weeks in New York at a ballet school. This was an eye opener for her! She was blown away by how much coffee and caffeine these girls used. They could not start the day with out their coffee! Let alone get through the day with out more coffee and/or caffeine. These girls were 12 to 18 years old! Ginger told us about girls sitting out of class because they had no energy.

She didn't drink the coffee and had tons of energy!! She never missed a class! Some girls complained about shin splints, sore muscles, bruised toes. Ginger would just pull out her sensei, cayenne balm and complete bone and tissue ointment and begin to rub it on her legs or feet. The other girls started to come around and began asking what she was doing. She shared her supplies, which meant that we had to hurry and send more to NY! Pretty soon Ginger had all of her class using her products and eating "Ginger Chews". ( she was also giving out the web site address) The instructors loved her and all of the other girls loved her too!

One would think that at a dance camp the food would be geared to what a dancer would need for optimum energy and health. Well there was a lot of pizza, pasta, hamburgers etc. She could find a "boca burger" on hamburger nights but to help supplement her diet, she took her Vitalerbs and some complete bone and tissue capsules. She was never sick one day and became the top dancer in the class!!

Isn't it wonderful when our children use what they have learned at home and share it with others!

NOTE: Information about recipes

There have been a few questions regarding the recipes that use eggs, flour, sucanut and canola oil that have been presented in this newsletter. In response to these questions, please read the following statement from Master Herbalist Fawn Christopher:

"In answer to questions about using eggs, flour, sucanut and canola oil:

"Generally the recipe such as the Banana Cake recipe last week are what we call transitional recipes. Many write to The School of Natural Healing asking how to cook/eat. We begin by teaching them to change the recipes that they already enjoy to a more healthy version. Then as their tastes change they move on to more natural and healthier foods.

"Olive oil is, of course, the oil of choice and can be used very effectively. As people begin a transformation period they may find that canola oil is not as strong in taste and is better for you than Crisco.

"I have often used a dollop of applesauce in place of eggs in my recipes. It does make them more moist.

"For a healthier flour try using sprouted grains. Traci Sellers, in her book "Traci's Transformational Kitchen Cookbook," explains how to sprout grains, dry them and use them as flour. See http://www.lulu.com/content/885929 for more information about this book.

"Sucanut is not the perfect sweetener, but when a dried sweetener is needed it is better than the rest. It is crystallized from whole, unwashed sugar cane. Yes, the crystallization process requires heat that kills off enzymes, but again, when a dried sweetener is needed that is what I use."
