Self-care is so important! With all the stress, pressure, and chaos we each have in our personal lives, and also in the world, we need to make time to take care of ourselves. I’ve come to realize that one of my most favorite self-care routines is to take an Epsom salt bath with essential oils.
Dr. Christopher taught that soaking in Epsom salt baths for at least 20 minutes, at least twice a week, helps draw out impurities, which include minerals and salt that our bodies can’t assimilate, and therefore accumulate in our joints and arteries. The accumulated minerals and salt can cause heart disease, heart attacks, strokes, and arthritis in various
forms.
Epsom salt draws these dangerous accumulated minerals and salts out of bodies, which helps our hearts, arteries, and joints. I can tell you from personal experience how wonderful and healing Epsom salt baths are.
A couple years ago I got a mosquito bite on my elbow. After that bite, I got a weird, painful bump on my elbow. It almost felt like scar tissue. Every time I bumped my elbow it caused incredible pain. I figured I would have to just live with this painful bump.
I also had a painful, infected ingrown
toenail. It didn’t matter what I did, I couldn’t get rid of the infection and ingrown toenail. Like the bump on my elbow, I just thought I would have to live with it. It’s amazing how we tell ourselves we have to live with pain and health problems. But isn’t it wonderful that we don’t have to?
A couple of months ago I decided I was going
to take Dr. Christopher’s advice and start taking Epsom salt baths. At first it was hard to just sit in the bath. I wanted to hurry and get out, but I made myself stay in as long as I could. As I kept taking the baths, the easier it got to relax and enjoy soaking in the bath. It has now become one of my most favorite things to do. I put a chunk of Epsom salt in the bath and a few drops of essential oils. I’ve also added tea bags. You can also put herbs from your spice cabinet in a muslin cloth,
tie it off and put it in the bath. Adding these to your Epsom salt bath makes a nice scent and adds to the healing of the bath. Note that you want to avoid citrus and spicy herbs and essential oils, as they can cause some burning.
Since I started this wonderful Epsom salt bath routine, the bump on my elbow is nearly gone and my elbow is no
longer painful. My infected ingrown toenail is now totally healed. My knees are no longer painful and feel so much better. My Epsom salt baths are also stress relieving. I’m able to relax and let the Epsom salts and essential oils pull out the stress and let my bad days go down the drain with the bath water.
