Metformin is one of the most prescribed drugs in the world accounting for $4,028.00 billion in sales. It is prescribed with proper diet for pre-diabetes to lower blood sugar levels. Metformin has been recalled in America and doctors are advised not to prescribe it due to intestinal side effects, the possibility of causing kidney damage and lactic
acidosis (which can result in death), and most recently the discovery of NDMA contamination that can cause cancer. The controversy is that the rest of the world has not followed the restrictions of America and sales are predicted to increase to $6,420.00 billion by 2030. Removing the contaminant that initiated the recall will not likely bring metformin back into good graces. I postulate that this money-making drug will not return because it retails for $38.00 per 100 pills and its replacement
Ozempic® costs $935.00 per month. If you have insurance, it may only cost a $25.00 copay, but someone pays the other $900.00 in higher premiums or taxpayer subsidies.
The reason Metformin is effective is due to its major component guanidine, which is extracted from the herb Galega officinalis. The herb Galega is effective in lowering blood sugar
and is also safe because it is used in its whole form, and has been used for hundreds of years. So why not go back to the original source or any of the thousand medicinal plants that lower blood sugar like cinnamon, turmeric, juniper berries, Oregon grape, bitter melon, fenugreek, garlic, onions, olive oil, macadamia nuts and many more.
There is
no point in using drugs or herbs to lower blood sugar and not simultaneously restrict the intake of concentrated sugars and highly processed grains that are quickly converted to concentrated sugar in the body.
The health of our bodies is dependent on a constant supply of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. Let no one deceive you, you need all
three. All these essential foods are abundantly available in a diet of fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts and seeds. This diet will prevent and help cure type 2 diabetes.
