One of the great joys of being a doctor, of any kind, is having a growing number of case histories we can refer back to as examples of healing events. I have been a naturopathic doctor for
many years and my wife and I ran the largest naturopathic medical center in California. In those years of practice we saw thousands of patients with everything from wound issues, to Lyme disease, Lupus, pregnancies, cancer and everything in between. One of the topics I most enjoy lecturing on is using case histories as proof that Dr. Christopher was right all along.
Before I went to medical school my first formal education into the healing arts came from The School of Natural Healing. I obtained my Master Herbalist diploma back in 1999 and eventually went on to medical school. I feel very blessed that I went to the School of Natural
Healing first as Dr. Christopher’s teachings have become the core of my practice, even after obtaining my doctorate degree.
One of my favorite cases to
share involved my father-in-law. He was from the deep south (Alabama) and from the old school of nutrition, fried food three times a day. Over the years it had taken its toll and eventually caught up with him. One day, unexpectedly, he called to tell us he had just left the cardiologist’s office with a diagnosis of a 90% heart block. He was told he would need heart bypass surgery to try and re-route around the blockage. Needless to say, my father-in-law was not happy about the option and asked
his doctor if he could go see his other doctor (me) first. He was given three months, but the surgery would be scheduled since the surgeon did not believe anything could be done.
Now, I knew he would not be interested and would resist all treatment if I recommended a change in diet for a longer-term treatment plan so the condition would never come back. Instead, I offered a tried-and-true method given to us by Dr. Christopher so many years ago.
I have never ceased to be amazed at the success of this simple little protocol. It involves the use of distilled water and apple cider vinegar. Dr. Christopher often recommended this combination for a variety of reasons such as supplying energy, as well as showing an amazing ability to clean out the arteries. Normally, the formula or recipe is one
glass of distilled water and one to two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar. Please remember the vinegar must still have the “mother” in it. My favorite brand is Braggs. This means it is raw and still has all the nutrients and vital enzymes remaining within it.
It is quite common to add sweetener to it such as raw honey or agave. This is for those who do not tolerate well the sharp taste of vinegar. Fortunately, my father-in-law was not one of those. Since he was in such an acute situation, and we only had three months for it to work, I suggested he do this four times a day, six days a week with one day a week off for rest. This was to be continued
for the entire three months, week after week.
In the deep south, most seem to love the taste of vinegar as many will drink the pickle juice from the jar once all
the pickles are gone. Therefore, my father-in-law had no issue with the taste and did not require any sweetening and in fact upped the amount of vinegar to the point that, as they say in Alabama, “makes your teeth sharp”. It was a powerful drink with many tablespoonfuls of vinegar. He was determined not to have surgery and was willing to give it a try. So, for the next three months, he followed the protocol with an iron like will and never varied from it.
After three months we received a phone call from him stating he had again just left the cardiologist’s office. This time, the news was wonderfully different. Although the surgery had been
scheduled for the following days, the tests were run again and he was found to now have a 0% heart blockage. The doctor was very surprised and canceled the surgery. My wife and I were both on the phone and rejoiced in the happy report. But it did not end there. My father-in-law was around 74 years old and had been without sexual function for many years. Due to the internal use of the apple cider vinegar, all function had returned to his great joy. My wife and I, while surprised at his
candor, were happy for him. My mother-in-law, not so much.
Such a simple remedy that most folks can easily do in their own homes. It has always been a
mission of mine to teach people how to care for themselves. I would love to see a world where I no longer had a job because folks could care for themselves. It is for this reason that my wife and I went on to create an overseas branch of our clinic called Tree of Life Clinical Outreach Ministries. With our program we have dedicated ourselves to bringing free healthcare to those in other countries where it is difficult to find as well as in many cases nonexistent.
Currently, we are preparing to work in the countries of Guatemala, India, Africa, and Nepal. We have already begun negotiations with Guatemala to start trips down there and work with the local clinics and
hospitals as we scout out the area for our own free clinic. While we would be happy to receive donations, I am including the link to the ministry as we are looking very seriously for volunteers to go with us. These will be weeklong trips two or three times a year in the beginning. The ministry will pay for flights, lodging and food. All you must do is show up and assist in the outreach.
This will not be a vacation as we will be working in a clinical environment, meeting the needs of those who have never seen a healthcare provider in their life. While it is good to have some kind of healthcare background, we welcome anyone with the calling to
serve those less fortunate. If this is of interest to you, please feel free to check out our website at http://tolclinicaloutreach.org/
