Blessed Master Herbalist By David Christopher
As it was with Dr. Christopher, many people discover natural healing through pain and suffering. They begin with standard medicine and when that fails, they search alternative treatments. After trying physical therapists, chiropractors, and even Naturopaths, Sandra Baker was losing hope, but she was encouraged to seek out Dr.
Christopher. She had been suffering from extreme back pain that kept her immobile and unable to care for those she loved. On her first appointment, she was instructed to sit in a chair facing the chair Dr. Christopher sat in. He asked her to raise her foot so he could do therapy. She proclaimed that it was not her foot that hurt, but her back. He assured her it would help and proceeded to treat her with reflexology (now called foot zoning). One session gave her more relief than
all the other therapies combined. He prescribed herbs and instructed her on proper diet. She was so thrilled with the cure that she, and her husband, Ken, enrolled in his school. Sandra applied the principles taught by Dr. Christopher and successfully treated family, friends, and neighbors. She graduated as a Master Herbalist and became a blessing to her community.
Sandra Baker, MH perfected herbal products. One product that she was famous for producing was Dr. Christopher’s Hawthorn Berry Syrup. She followed the recipe exactly and always used fresh locally harvested hawthorn berries. Dr. Christopher was so pleased with her work that he asked her to manufacture for his herb company. When she could not find enough workers to harvest the berries, to keep
up with the high demand, she and her family dropped everything else and harvested what was needed. Many lives were saved, and families blessed through her service and expertise in providing the public with this wonderful herbal lifesaver. The Hawthorn Heart Syrup is still made with the same care, as she trained the manufacturer, Wholistic Botanicals, in her protocols.
Personally, I was blessed by this sweet lady almost fifty years ago. I was newly married, managing Dr. Christopher’s herb and publications companies, taking seventeen credit hours at college, performing ecclesiastical duties and was up nights with a new baby. I wore myself out and then came down with the flu. I was out of commission, flat down in bed for two weeks with no end in sight.
Sandra Baker found out about my condition and made up a batch of Dr. Christopher’s Anti-Plague formula, which was a new formula not yet on the market. I had never tried it before, and the first dose tasted so terrible that it made me shudder. Nevertheless, I finished the bottle that day and was up and back with my daily duties the next day.
Sandra lived as she taught, was the picture of good health and recently died peacefully in her sleep at the age of eighty-three. I praise her life and service and thank you for letting me honor this angelic herbalist and friend.

Here are two of Sandra Baker’s simple recipes that her children shared with us for you to enjoy.
Place water in pan on top of the stove and bring to boil. Add millet and let boil. Place lid on top. Turn off heat. Place pan in pre-heated oven to 200 that is turned off before you put the pan in. Takes a couple of hours. Heat up when using. Use milk (almond or coconut) and honey, molasses, or a little maple syrup to sweeten. Contains protein and starch, gives energy, and is sustaining.
Old Time Vegetable Soup - Sandra Baker
1 ½ qt (6 cups) stock (broth or water + bouillon)
Add 3 cups of vegetables finely diced to stock (broth). Cook about 30 minutes. Serves 6.
