Recently some of my family and I became sick from Covid 19. My mom and I both felt it was the “Achilles Heel” sickness, meaning, it gets you where you are weak. Dr. Christopher taught,
“These germs are God’s gift to the sick because they speed up healing. They are like tiny scavengers, living off the toxins, mucus, poisons and filth of our bodies. To live they must eat, and the only thing they consume is the filth in our bodies. A germ cannot consume or live on a
good, live cell structure. So when the body is clean from all toxins, disease germs leave because they have nothing more to live on. They are nature’s perfect garbage men. We should work with them and not against them.”1
I realize that some of you reading may have lost loved ones to Covid-19 or suffered severely through it. Sickness, challenge, and loss are part of the human experience and I express my deepest sympathy as we have all had different sicknesses, challenges, and losses in
life.
My son became sick the first part of October, and then I came down with a sore throat. I took a garlic, honey, and cayenne pepper mixture each hour and by the third day my sore throat was gone. We had company coming, so my family and I went to get tested and our results came back positive for Covid-19. All
this while, deep body aches began to settle in my hips, lower spine, and legs. These aches lasted many days, and I was unable to sleep or get comfortable. I had my family and myself take Dr. Christopher’s Lower Bowel formula, Dr. Christopher’s Liver/Gallbladder formula, Echinacea with Goldenseal, and Dr. Christopher’s Cold Season Formula several times a day (click the links for more information on herbs in these formulas). My children all came through Covid with greater ease than I did. I had been pushing my capacities in so many aspects of
my life, that I was in need of a break. Just as Dr. Christopher said in the above quote, germs are God’s gift to the sick, and I was in need of the gift of rest.
As I went through Covid, I craved fresh juiced ginger and lemon. I drank about 2 quarts a day of lemon, apple, and ginger juice (or honey in place of apples). Ginger contains gingerol, a constituent that inhibits blood clotting. It is also a remarkable anti-inflammatory, which is so soothing. Ginger has
been very effective in cases of flu and is a wonderful stimulating herb, causing increased gas exchange in the lungs, as well as a relaxing effect on the gastrointestinal and reproductive organs.2 Lemons are rich in vitamin C, B-6, and
electrolytes. I also craved and ate lots of fresh organic blueberries, a powerful antioxidant.
I truly feel that the principles of keeping the eliminating channels open and supporting the immune system allows us to pass through sickness more quickly and efficiently. I drank fresh juices and took lots of baths adding in lemon and ginger essential oils. I finished my hot baths with an ice-cold
shower and then applied Dr. Christopher’s Cayenne Heat Balm and Complete Tissue and Bone ointments to my hips and legs. I continued to take the herbs mentioned above, as well as Valerian and Relaxease for my nervous system. It took a couple weeks after the sickness to feel like I had energy again, but I was able to recover and regain most of my smell, taste and energy.
Everyone will experience a virus or an infection in slightly different ways, depending on the current health and long term care we have given our bodies. Our body is equipped with a remarkable immune system and eliminating channels to respond to and remove invaders, toxins, and waste. I hope my experience can
provide you with ideas of tools you can use when an illness, challenge, or discomfort comes your way. Wishing you the very best!
